Payphones - 50Hz meter pulse service is being phased out
Do you operate a gold payphone or another payphone that only operates on 50Hz pulses? If so the following information is important for you to read & consider.
Important Information regarding Customer loop metering 50 Hz meter pulses (CLM50) service
Telstra has advised that CLM50 service is planned to be withdrawn on 30th May 2009. Telstra currently no longer adds new CLM50 services & does not make any changes to existing CLM50 services. Repairs to gold payphones are also no longer undertaken by Telstra.
If you currently have a 50Hz service and your current payphone does not support 12 kHz service then you are advised to upgrade your payphone equipment if you choose to operate a payphone after the end of May of 2009. Only the 12 kHz service will be supported after this time and only metered payphones that operate on 12 kHz will be supported after the 50Hz meter pulses have been withdrawn. All payphones provided by East Coast Telephone Co. have the capabilities to support 12 kHz metering.
Please note that gold payphones only have the option of 50Hz metering and cannot be modified to support 12 kHz metering. We suggest that you refer to our payphone section of this web site to gain a greater understanding of the payphones that we offer that could suit your specific requirements that operate on 12 kHz metering. |
